J. Frank Gerrity II Scholarship

Recipient: Jason Sanborn

Jason Sanborn

“Without the J. Frank Gerrity II Scholarship I would have incurred more student loans, which would make the decision whether to graduate school much more difficult.”

Jason grew up in York, Maine, near the ocean. He is majoring in Biochemistry. He hopes to use his degree to obtain employment with a building construction company.

The J. Frank Gerrity II Scholarship was established through an estate bequest by J. Frank Gerrity II. Mr. Gerrity was a graduate of Harvard College and the Harvard Business School. Although J. Frank Gerrity was not a graduate of the University of Maine, Mr. Gerrity’s father, Joe Warren Gerrity was and graduated in 1909. Mr. Gerrity was a successful businessman who grew the Gerrity Lumber Company to be the largest privately held lumber business east of the Mississippi River.
