The Richard P. Fournier, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Recipient: Sarah Young

Sarah Young

“Thanks to the Richard P. Fournier Jr. Memorial Scholarship, I didn’t have to stress over my financial problems. Instead, I could put my energy towards my academic goals. This scholarship made a large difference in the amount of money that I had to borrow through loans and such. Without it I would have had to borrow a lot more.”

Sarah Young graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School. She is in her second year at UMaine majoring in Biochemistry.

The Richard P. Fournier Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 with gifts from family and friends of Richard P. Fournier Jr., a member of the Class of 2004, to commemorate his interests and his life. The fund is used to provide scholarship aid for Maine high school graduates who demonstrate financial need and who demonstrate a particular interest in pursuing a career in Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Molecular Biology.
