The Alton S. and Adelaide B. Hamm Scholarship Fund

Recipient: Kevin Merrill

Kevin Merrill

“This scholarship has made it possible for me to focus more on my studies rather than focusing on how to pay for them.”

Kevin Merrill is a graduate of Westbrook High School. He is a 4th year student majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

The Alton S. and Adelaide B. Hamm Scholarship was established in 1996 with a gift from Alton S. Hamm ’38 and Adelaide B. Hamm to provide assistance for upper-class and graduate students in Engineering. Preference is given to students who have achieved a dean’s list average, completed an elective in economics, and displayed a strong work ethic. The Hamms’ goal with this scholarship is to produce the very best in engineering.

“It sure has made me feel good to do it because when I went to college there weren’t many Scholarships available. I decided I’d change that,” says Alton Hamm.
