Maine Spirit Fund Benefits From Sales

Nancy, Griffin, Kristen Andresen, Amos Orcutt

Maine Maven, a local gift shop in Orono, is owned by UMaine alums Jason '00 and Kristen Andresen '97 Lainsbury.

On Saturday, November 19, the couple hosted Nancy Griffin and Amos Orcutt. Griffin is author of Making Whoopies: the Official Whoopie Pie book.  Amos Orcutt, president/CEO of the Foundation spearheaded the campaign to have the whoopie pie named Maine's state treat. Nancy Griffin was on hand to autograph copies of her book. An added treat was whoopie pies donated by LaBree's Bakery in Old Town.

Ten percent of the store's proceeds for the day went to the Maine Spirit Fund, which was established in the University of Maine Foundation in 2007.
