The Babcock Education Fund

Richard and Fadelma Babcock

Richard K. and Fadelma S. Babcock of Milbridge have always known they wanted to give something back to the University of Maine. A 1959 graduate of the University from South Brewer, Dick enjoyed his career as an educator. Fadelma took her initial nursing courses at the University of Maine and was thrilled with her career as a registered nurse.

Recently, Dick and Fadelma made an initial gift to create a charitable remainder unitrust which will ultimately create the Babcock Educational Fund at the University of Maine Foundation to help deserving University of Maine students who are graduates of Washington County and Hancock County high schools. The trust will be managed by Union Trust Company.

Dick and Fadelma spend a great deal of their time helping nonprofits like the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, the Milbridge Historical Society Museum, and in the wintertime, the Florida State Golf Association. Whether to give back has never been a question for them. Now generations of students will benefit from their generosity.
