Laurie Liscomb ’61

Laurie Liscomb

Laurie Liscomb graduated from the University of Maine in 1961 with a degree in Home Economics. It was at the University that Laurie met her late husband Clark, class of 1960. Following graduation Clark entered the Naval Officer Candidate School and received his commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy. Upon leaving the US Navy, Clark was employed by Corning, Inc. (then known as Corning Glass Works). His career spanned 35 years with Corning where he eventually became President of Corning Pacific Rim, which afforded him the opportunity to be responsible for Corning’s business interests in Japan, Korea, Singapore and Australia.

When Clark passed away in 2003, Laurie decided to establish the Clark Noyes Liscomb ’60 Prize fund in the University of Maine Foundation as a means of encouraging and aiding promising students enrolled in the School of Business to pursue their dreams of a career in international commerce.
