Arline K. Thomson![]() For over seventy years, Arline K. Thomson has been an outstanding contributor to the advancement of the arts. She began her professional career at the Massachusetts School of Art, working in the field of advertising in Boston and New York City before moving to Maine in 1953. For nearly a decade, Thomson designed and illustrated children’s books. In 1962, she became the University of Maine’s first graphic designer capturing the character of the campus and the state. Over the years that Arline has supported the University, a particular area of interest has been the Honors Program, now the Honors College. “The Honors Program is very close to my heart because my husband served as director,” says Arline. “Under the leadership of Charlie Slavin, the current Dean of the College and his wonderful staff, the program thrives and is better than ever. I plan to continue my support of the Honors College through my estate plans.” |
